SMS opt-in

Who receives SMS from Junie
SMS traffic on Junie is 1-to-1, transactional / conversational. Each message comes from a phone number the account holder provisioned through the platform and is addressed to themselves, or to a person they have explicitly opted in by texting their Junie number first.
Junie is not used to send marketing blasts, lead-gen campaigns, or unsolicited messages. The only reason an end user receives an SMS from a Junie number is that they (or someone they paired with) sent that number a message first.
How users opt in
- Account holders opt in by signing up at https://junie.ai/register and provisioning a phone number from the in-product Settings → Messaging page. Provisioning a number explicitly binds it to the account; the user enters their account password to confirm. No SMS leaves the platform on a number that hasn’t been bound.
- Counterparties (people the account holder wants their agent to talk to over SMS) opt in by sending the first message to the Junie number. The agent acknowledges and identifies itself as a Junie agent in its first reply, and every subsequent message is in the same conversation thread. Replies stop the moment the counterparty texts STOP.
- On the universal-SMS path (a single shared platform number with sender-keyed routing), counterparties additionally complete a one-time OTP verification to prove they own the texting phone number before any agent traffic reaches them. Unverified senders see a one-line acknowledgement and nothing else.
Message frequency
Variable, driven by the conversation. Junie agents reply when spoken to and (rarely) on a user-configured schedule the account holder explicitly set up — for example a daily summary the user requested. There is no automated mass-send loop.
Recipients can text STOP at any time to halt all messages from that Junie number; the agent will not message them again.
Supported keywords
- STOP — opt out. The Junie number stops sending to the recipient immediately. Aliases: STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT, OPT-OUT.
- HELP — returns a one-message response with service identification, the support email, and links to the privacy policy and terms of service. Aliases: HELP, INFO.
- START — re-opt-in after a previous STOP. Resumes the conversation only on the same number pairing.
Carrier disclosures
Standard messaging rules apply: message and data rates may apply from the recipient’s wireless carrier; message delivery is best-effort and not guaranteed. Junie does not impose a fixed message frequency cap — the conversation cadence drives volume. Carriers may rate-limit or filter traffic at their discretion.
